hELEN BROUGHTON

COMMUNITY BOARD MEMBER

Helen has represented Riccarton on the Community Board since 1995 and currently serves as on the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board.

She is a strong, experienced advocate with a real commitment to the Riccarton community where she and her husband have lived for over 30 years and raised their children

As a former City Councillor, Helen brings strong planning knowledge and experience to advocate effectively for Riccarton’s diverse community which continues to face increased pressures from the new City Plan.

Helen is committed to protecting Riccarton’s residential environment and giving residents a real voice on local decisions. She has worked hard to stop apartment zoning in north Riccarton, promoted parking restrictions in residential streets, retained Council services for the new Riccarton Community Centre and developed the university to city cycleway.

She also is passionate about protecting the city’s heritage as a former Trustee of Riccarton House and the Canterbury Museum. Helen brings to table practical experience, she has an MA (Hons) from Canterbury, is a former human resource manager, a trained teacher and counsellor.

 
 

LUKE CHANDLER

COMMUNITY BOARD MEMBER

Luke runs Mythical Fibre, a small Christchurch-based Internet Service Provider, and works as a self-employed consultant specialising in IT and Employment Relations. He is a proud local who is heavily involved in his community.

Having been involved in a myriad of community projects — many through Rebuild Christchurch, Sockburn Residents Association and the Church Corner Residents Association— Luke has a solid understanding of the challenges and needs of the Riccarton community. He’s focused on bringing solutions, not problems, to the Community Board.
